Machine builder DT Dijkstra has revised its drum washing installation, and the changes are all on the maintenance side rather than the washing itself. There are more inspection hatches around the rotating parts and the hatches are larger, which is what makes the difference when something has to be reached in a hurry. Bearings, suspension and seals have been improved, and the drum drive is built for durability. The manufacturer frames the result as less wear, less downtime and lower service costs over the life of the machine. Two of the new units went into a large potato packing operation in the Netherlands in July.
