France: growers face a 23% smaller harvest
Industry estimates for France, Europe's third processing-potato producer, point to a harvest roughly 23% below last year after a season of drought and heat.
EU fries exports at their highest since 2023
Dutch exports peaked, lifting EU frozen-fry exports to the strongest level since 2023 — even as new-crop supply in the Benelux and France looks tight.
Regrowth and secondary growth cloud the quality outlook
Late-August rain after extreme drought triggered regrowth in stressed crops; processors are watching tuber length and dry matter, with large regional differences expected between Germany/northern Netherlands and Belgium/France.
No more potato futures: EEX delisted the contract on 5 June 2026
The European Processing Potato Future (FAPP) and its index were withdrawn by EEX; the June 2026 contract was the last. Price discovery for the new season relies on physical quotations (Belgapom, Fiwap, PotatoNL) and PRA indices.
